MARTON DISCUSSES YORGI

"He is fed up with the world that he's living in," Marton Csokas, who plays Yorgi, says in his sophisticated New Zealand accent from the set of Timeline in Canada.

"Being Russian, he's probably fought in various wars and seen a lot of his friends be killed and wonders why, and he is trying to manipulate the larger picture for the good of the world. And, like some people, the good of the world becomes the good of the individual. His pursuits are admirable, in my opinion, but the means by which he seeks to save the world arguably amoral.

"What's wonderful about the film is that all the characters have their foibles," Csokas continues, 'They're not clear-cut. xXx dabbles in the so-called good and bad, as does the archetypal bad guy, my character. They all have their joys and sorrows. The humanity within the action genre is expressed. So hopefully you'll like and hate xXx as much as you like and hate Yorgi and anybody else, for that matter. It's more complex than the genre is normally."
