MARTONISMS

On Marton's Role in "xXx":

In the film's production notes [Rob] Cohen says of their meeting:

"At first I was a little taken aback, because although Marton was indeed tall, dark and handsome, he was also so shy and mild-mannered that I wondered if he could play a dangerous villain like Yorgi.

"When he started to read a scene from the script in character, he was suddenly seven feet tall! After Marton left the office I turned to [casting director Ronna Kress] and said, 'Let's get him. Let's not even look any further. I don't care who else is out there, this guy's amazing'."

News and Updates

arrow 1/25/07 - Two pieces of news. From etherealtb comes word that Marton is back in California. He was spotted riding his bike in Venice last week. This isn't the first time we've heard of Marton's love of two wheels. Here's an entertaining bit from the journalist who interviewed him for Close-Up Film.

"I caught up with the up-and-coming star of stage and screen for a telephone chat as he cycled through Venice Beach, alternately interjecting here and there with a commentary on the goings on runaway pets and bereft owners."

There was a cast and crew screening of ROMULUS, MY FATHER in Melbourne last week as well. Director Richard Roxburgh joked that now, having completed his first feature as a director, he wants to apologise to all the directors he has previously worked with as an actor. The release date though still seems to be in flux with dates from February to June being mentioned. Soon as we get something solid, MCN will let you know.

arrow 1/18/07 - From joyin we have a great new pic from ROMULUS, MY FATHER of Rai and Hora. Raimond Gaita who wrote the book this film is based on, has said Hora was his second father so whatever this scene is about, it's certain to be important.

arrow 1/11/07 - Fifteen interviews have been added to Interviews section. For a real insight into our complicated Kiwi, check out the in-depth piece from Offscreen Magazine. It's long, but well worth reading.

arrow 1/6/07 - Word has come that the official release of ROMULUS, MY FATHER will be postponed from March to June or July. No info yet on the reason for the delay or the effect if any, on release dates in other countries.

arrow 1/1/07 - With the beginning of the new year, we've started a new year here as well. MARTON CSOKAS NETWORK been completely revamped with lots of new material and a different look. Among other things, there's a detailed filmography section with Marton's thoughts on many of the films listed there, a multimedia section with many video clips featuring him in various roles, and a huge gallery featuring pics from roles, photo shoots, and casual appearances. For those who've been concerned about the slow pace of Marton's career this year and last, the various interviews clearly show he's much more concerned with the quality of his work, not the quantity.

If there's anything you'd like to see here, feel free to write us and we'll do our best to track it down.
