MARTONISMS

On Marton's Role in "xXx":

In the film's production notes [Rob] Cohen says of their meeting:

"At first I was a little taken aback, because although Marton was indeed tall, dark and handsome, he was also so shy and mild-mannered that I wondered if he could play a dangerous villain like Yorgi.

"When he started to read a scene from the script in character, he was suddenly seven feet tall! After Marton left the office I turned to [casting director Ronna Kress] and said, 'Let's get him. Let's not even look any further. I don't care who else is out there, this guy's amazing'."

News and Updates

arrow 4/27/07 - The ROMULUS, MY FATHER site has been updated again with new Diaries for days 16, 23, and 25. Day 23 has several shots of Hora and we find out that it's Marton's last day of filming.

arrow 4/22/07 - New Diaries for days 12, 14, and 15 have been added to the ROMULUS, MY FATHER site. Again we see Director Roxburgh's thoughtful and mature approach to his material despite the typical hassles of making a film. Day 12 is interesting because near the end of it we discover Hora is a reader just like Marton.

arrow 4/19/07 - Officials at Festival de Cannes held a press conference today to announce the films that will be shown in and out of competition next month and unfortunately ROMULUS, MY FATHER is not among them. While this is definitely disappointing news, RMF producer Robert Connolly is still trying to get the film into the Toronto International Film Festival in September. In the last few years, TIFF has become one of the top tier festivals in the world.

arrow 4/15/07 - From the April 13th edition of the Sydney Morning Herald comes news that the Sydney premiere of ROMULUS, MY FATHER will be part of the 10th annual Sydney Writers' Festival beginning May 30. After the film's screening there will be a panel discussion about the transition of Raimond Gaita's award winning novel from text to film. Scheduled members so far include director Richard Roxburgh, Gaita, poet and RMF screenwriter Nick Drake, producer Robert Connolly, and Eric Bana who plays the title role.
